  • 1 cup heavy cream for richness
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese grated
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 cup fresh bread crumbs for topping
  • 2 tablespoons butter for sautéing
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or dried

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel and slice the onions thinly for even cooking.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter until bubbly. Add the sliced onions and cook until translucent and caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and sprinkle in fresh thyme, stirring well. Simmer gently for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. In a bowl, combine grated Gruyère and Parmesan cheese with bread crumbs.
  5. Transfer the onion mixture into a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the cheese-bread crumb mixture on top.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake uncovered for about 30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
