How to Make Brownies from Scratch
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
- Combine sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract into the melted butter and beat together for about 2 minutes until smooth.
- Whisk the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl until combined.
- Mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and stir gently until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking at the 25-minute mark.
- Test the brownies with a toothpick; they are ready when it comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool them in the pan on a wire rack for about an hour.
- Slice into squares and serve, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
