Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk and honey (if using).
  4. Mix until a soft dough forms, being careful not to overmix.
Shaping and Baking
  1. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
  2. Place the loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Using a sharp knife, cut a deep cross on top of the loaf.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  5. Let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
