  • 2 cups fresh pitted cherries
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
Crumble
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats substitute with almond flour for gluten-free
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter can use coconut oil for non-dairy
  • 1 tsp baking powder ensure it's fresh
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar remaining sugar for crumble

Method
 

Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare your baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Toss the fresh pitted cherries in a mixing bowl with ¼ cup of sugar. Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. Combine the all-purpose flour, rolled oats, remaining sugar, baking powder, and melted butter in a separate bowl. Mix until crumbly.
  4. Press half of the crumble mixture evenly into the bottom of your baking pan.
  5. Pour the cherry filling over the crumb base, spreading it out evenly. Top with the remaining crumble mixture.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown. Let it cool in the pan.
  7. Slice the cooled bars into squares for serving.
