- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a doughnut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Add milk, egg, applesauce, and melted butter to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fill the doughnut pan with the batter, about 2/3 full in each mold.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the doughnuts comes out clean.
- Cool slightly before removing from the pan. Dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar, if desired.
Notes
- These doughnuts are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days.
