  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel, and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large pot, combine apples, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and water. Stir until mixed.
  3. Cook over medium heat until the mixture simmers and apples soften (20-30 minutes), stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat; let cool slightly then puree with an immersion blender until smooth.
  5. Return the pureed mixture to the pot and simmer uncovered on low heat for another 30-40 minutes until thickened to your liking.
  6. Pour hot apple butter into sterilized jars, seal tightly, and allow to cool before storing.
