Description

Baklava Babka Buns are a delightful fusion of two beloved desserts, combining the flaky texture of babka with the sweet, nutty goodness of baklava. These warm, gooey buns envelop a rich filling of cinnamon-spiced nuts and honey, making them perfect for brunch or as a cozy treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pistachios
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 cup warm milk

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk with sugar and yeast; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add melted butter and yeast mixture; knead until smooth (8-10 minutes).
  3. Place dough in an oiled bowl; cover and let rise in a warm spot until doubled (about 1 hour).
  4. Mix chopped nuts with cinnamon and honey for filling.
  5. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread nut mixture evenly, then roll tightly and slice into pieces.
  6. Arrange buns in a greased dish; let rise again for 30 minutes before baking at 350°F for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Drizzle warm honey on top after baking; enjoy!
