Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ tsp)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For the Filling:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
For the Topping:
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg; stir until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Make the Topping: In a saucepan, combine maple syrup, brown sugar, and butter over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Pour into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and sprinkle with pecans.
- Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll Out Dough: Roll dough into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick. Spread softened butter over dough and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Form the Buns: Roll up the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 12 equal slices. Place slices over the topping in the baking dish.
- Second Rise: Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate to allow the topping to drizzle over the buns.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dough.
