  • 1 package (12 rolls) Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Butter for cooking
  • Maple syrup and fresh fruits for serving

Instructions

  • Slice Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  • Dip each roll piece in the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 10 seconds per side.
  • Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the soaked rolls for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.

Notes

  • Don’t soak the rolls too long as they’re softer than regular bread and can become too soggy
  • Keep finished pieces warm in a 200°F oven while cooking remaining batches
  • For extra indulgence, serve with coconut syrup instead of maple syrup
